Real Star in Inglourious Basterds

Christoph Waltz won and enjoyed the glory of Oscar. But I like the actor and film-maker – Laurent, who, second to Juliette Binoche, became the biggest French export.

In spite of being the die-hard fans of Quentin Tarantino, I couldn’t hold back my disappointments to the Inglourious Basterds. Nevertheless, I am glad to admit the gifts of Tarantino to pick and bring actors or actresses. All people know the significance of a movie, which could made a star like Christoph Waltz. It is also true another star – Laurent, who played a bad-tempered Jewish woman Shosanna Dreyfus. The character in movie was pursued by Waltz’s creepy SS “Jew hunter”. Prior to the movie, she also played many characters in other films, but a breakthrough was made in the movie for her creation. Her father dubbed the voice of Ned Flanders in French broadcasts of The Simpsons on occasion. In her new film The Concert, Laurent played a talented and versatile violinist.

Honestly, some believes it is Mélanie Laurent who kept the film from jumping into pools of washout. For conspicuous qualities and natural actions, she catches attentions of the excellent director Tarantino. She is cool, reserved, smart and a sense of self-possession. Only little or nothing need she do to dominate the screen, and her glamor and grace could seep into each details of the character.

It seems that she make a crossover into the Anglo-Saxon film effortlessly like many film stars, such as Catherine Deneuve or Juliette Binoche or Emmanuelle Béart or Marion Cotillard. Among numerous photos of her films, the photo with a grid beret impress me very much. In addition to the identity of film star, she is also a writer and director. Short film Less and Less once entered the Cannes Film Festival in 2008. The film is a rare and intriguing film, jumping out of circle of stereotypes, telling a clear meaning and eloquent story in an arguably unformed and wilfully opaque manner.

A psychotherapist played by Eric Caravaca tried to piece together some fragmented memory of Lisa played by Delphine Benattard to assist her know more about her life before. In the film Less and Less, Lisa’s amnesia was caused by an accidental trauma. The therapist asks whether she could remember something regarding Marion, who was a close friend, and one man named Sacha. With assistance of certain physical pain, a scene of Sacha at a nightclub occurred to her. But what had happened at the nightclub? Why she was injured? Let’s look into the jigsaw.

Besides the film Less and Less, she written and directed an erotic film for French television, À Ses Pieds. In her new film, a man is obsessed with a woman seduced him in a bar, and then go with her. The man was nervous when find him in a dream-like hotel while reality and fantasy are messy in the hotel, becoming a humiliated voyeur. The film, co-produced by Canal Plus and Second Sexe, an online magazine, is commissioned on the theme of female sexuality, under the direction of Tonie Marshall and Zoe Cassavetes.

A Feminist or a Commercial Brand

Sexism in film industry triggered heated discussion to feminism, especially in the star Emma Watson and her UN women’s role. All publicity and dissemination around the star iron herself a too perfect character to believe. The young girl is not clear what the link between feminism and her image. A photo where she sports a cape which exposes most of her breasts, leads to mild public opposition. Many eyes pay attention to her since she has been appointed as UN women’s goodwill ambassador in 2014. Certainly, more people intends to find fault with all her behaviors, even having spent much time for them. It’s is natural she would like to snap back.

In 1990, Emma Watson was born into a family of layers in Paris. When she was young, her parents divorced for some reasons. Then the family went to England and she was raised up in Oxfordshire and London. Before casting in Harry Potter, her acting experience was limited and immature for only a little experience in three productions.

Fortunately, the young girl won the opportunity to play Hermione, together with two other buddies Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). Since release of the first film, these unknown children became famous actors or actresses. For the sake of her experience, she received education in independent Headington School, and spending much time on-set tutors. As a well-known star pupil, she also performed well in study. Watson’s perfect performances in films and in real life were reported by many media. As an adult actress, she reiterate it is legal to publish that photos at the time of her 18th birthday.

Watson enrolled at Brown University to avoid tabloid press and seek out normality. But “bullying” from her peers and bothering reports forced her to leave the university in 2011. During the time pursuing studies at the university, she also appeared in some films from time to time. She came back to the university after a period learning at Oxford as a visiting student. In spite of her strong desire to pursue jobs except for actresses, the identity and job are still the center of her career. Since release of several films in 2011, Emma Watson caught more attentions from public eyes.

After a series of Potter, the tag of a competent actress overrated her for the strength of her fame. Public eyes have expected better acting in the film Bling Ring. In the film, other actresses or actors were given short shifts and and too much airtime to Watson.

Starting from Harry Potter to appointment of UN, the solid building block of public came into being. But she rejected any question about her personal life. No one is entitled to disorder her private life. Many will ruffled their feathers from the point that they found Watson an insincere feminist spokeswoman. Despite of great wealth from her acting career, overwhelming fame is also the inescapable problem. On the behalf of UN, some believes her advocacies undermine feminist.

Christy Turlington: Not Only a Model

What’s the motive that urge you perform well after retired from the runway. She was asked about her new pursuing career by Emine Saner. In the beginning of her first documentary, it opens with frightening scenes just after she has given bitch to her first baby – Grace. Ed Burns, her husband also a director and film-maker, record the birth of his daughter, but the camera was kept rolling when she started to haemorrhage. All factors like stained sheets and thighs contributed to a sense of increasing panic.

The theme of her documentary was introduced in an alarming way – maternal mortality. However, not as lucky as the supermodel, many puerperal could not receive medical care as good as puerperal. She said she never thought the theme could be a part of her life. She tried to narrate related matters and hope more people could take the journey with her.

Most of deaths occurred in developing countries in 2008, with 50% of them in in sub-Saharan Africa. Maternal mortality became a trending topic at the UN summit in assessing development goals last month. A goal was set to reduce by 75% by 2015.

She argued that the purpose of the documentary is guide people to feel it rather than telling them how to think and act. Second to raise awareness of most people, people may could engaged in it and improve it to reach another level. Every mother deserves cares.

Some certainly doubted the motivation of her documentary. In general, somebody who catch attentions of public eyes, will get involved in social and political issues. It is not easy to attract or win support from organizations. The culture should not be consumed by celebrities. It’s almost stereotype for celebrities involving in charity. She and all her behaviors would be put under amplifiers, facing them with confident and optimistic attitudes. She threw herself to anti-smoking campaign after experienced her father’s advanced lung cancer. The model career is silent and one-dimensional.

Certainly, there are also a lot of wonderful points in her career, receiving polite and sound treatment, becoming friends with some excellent guys and seeing the more beautiful world at a better corner. Besides, profitable incomes liberate herself from daily work. When asked to talk her feelings on the supermodel tag? For the purpose of selling pieces like berets, t-shirts and ready-to-wear clothes, some celebrities were exploited to jumpstart the industry.
